6/25/2012 Marx
The central theme of this article is the rising/falling of the bourgeoisie and the rise of the proletariat. The article talked about the development of the bourgeoisie and the boost in industry and the markets, and how the development was also accompanied by a corresponding political advance. The bourgeoisie created more massive productive forces than all the preceding generations together. Because the bourgeoisie forged the weapons that bring death to itself, it has also created the modern working class - the proletarians. The proletariat went through various stages of development, and eventually they sought to restore the status of the workman of the Middle Ages. The idea has meaning now because it is part of history.
6/25/2012 Rand
The central theme of this article is the misconception that selfishness is immoral. The article is explaining that the meaning of selfishness has changed. The article said if only being concerned with your own interest is immoral, then a dictator can be regarded as moral because the things he committed were for the purpose to "benefit" the people. The idea has meaning now because people still consider it immoral to be selfish. This idea appeals to me because I am among those who have a the same view on selfishness as others and now I got a different outlook on selfishness.

The help
The help is a movie that is about racism back in the day. White people looked down on colored people and made the colored people be there slaves and do what they want and were paid very small amounts. This idea has changed completly today. White people and colored people today are equal and there are no more slaves and nobody is treated like they used to be. The idea of slavery is not something that I liked at all. The way people were treated when slavery was around discusts me and I am glad that it is not like this today.

5/30/2012 Midnight in Paris
This movie was about the life choices we make. The central idea is how the choices we make affect our lives. The meaning does not change based on context, no matter what context, the choices are going to affect your life. No matter what the choices people make affect their lives which makes this idea important still today, just like the movie. In the movie the main character that Owen played goes back to where he meets many historic idols. This affects his life because his live for his wife is falling apart because every night he goes back to the past. The choices I make in my life obviously affect how my life choices are gonna go on. If I make a bad choice it is going to affect me negatively and if I make a good choice it is going to affect me positively.
6/13/2012 Chariots of Fire
The central theme of this movie was dedication and determination. Also it is about with both dedication and determination you can reach your goals no matter what happens. Both Harold and Eric were dedicated to what they do and determined to win. Running and Focus were symbols in this movie. Running for Eric symbolized his devotion to God and no one was going to change that. Eric Focused on God and had him by his side through all the running events. Running for Harold is his way to achieve fame and to overcome prejudice. At the time the Olympics were nothing like they are today. Eric's sister did not believe he is making the right decision to pursue running. This just shows how dedicated Eric really was to running and also determined. Both Eric and Harold win their races which backs up the central theme, which is still relevant today. This is still relevant because kids still to this day set goals to what they desire and want and they do everything in their power to reach those goals. You can reach anything with dedication and determination.
6/19/2012 The Matrix
This movie was quite interesting but it was also quite confusing. I really did not get the main theme of the movie but I think it was along the lines of be sure you make the right choices in life and do with what you think is best not what others want or think you should do. When Neo, which is the main character, starts having these dreams he is quite confused and shocked and wonders what is going on. Then when he starts receiving these weird phone calls he starts getting really freaked out. Then when he sees the people coming after him and the guy he is on the phone with is telling him what to do he backs out and can't go on with the escape. After giving up he is put through torture then given the choice to take a red pill, or a blue pill. If the theme I got out of it is correct then it does pertain to today because people should live on what they want to do in their life and not what others want them to do.
6/20/2012 The Declaration of Independence
The main theme of the Declaration of Independence is to have a government that makes everyone equal and have the right to happiness, life, and liberty. I think this is still relevant today, and I don't feel that it has changed today. As people of America we still follow the Declaration. This interests me because it pertains to my everyday life and gives me the freedom and rights of life, liberty, and happiness.
