Hills Like White Elephants

In Hemmingways Hills Like White Elephants I fell that the central idea is a couple got pregnant and he does not want her to have the baby so they run go to a "train station" in the middle of nowhere and they have the baby aborted. No I do not think that the central idea changed. This idea has a major meaning in this society today. Abortion is looked down upon in some cases and in some cases people are indecisive or do not care if someone has a baby aborted. I think this idea is horrible. People should not be able to have abortions unless something bad was to happen to them such as rape. This is a very touchy subject with many people in this world today.

The Prelude

The prelude is a poem that talks about William Wordsworths' childhood, and the adventrues he has went on. I really could not pull out the central idea. He really just talked about his life and the things he had done or what had happened to him.

Darwin

The central idea of The Origin of Species is how he recorded and observed data on various species of South Africa, which lead him to wonder more about the mystery of the species. After he arrived back in Great Britian he started to sketch out his theory. Although his work was not finished he realized that his health was failing and Alfred Wallace had already come close to discovering the same theory what Darwin was trying to prove. Til this day I feel that these things that Darwin tried to prove are still relevant because today we are still trying to observe and discover new things and figure out what they are, or where they came from, or what they do. This idea really doesn't appeal to me because I am not the one to try and find new species or new things in the world. But then again it does appeal because something that they could find or discover could one day affect me.
